On A Roll......

Hard to believe, but this is the 3d post within a week!
Today I delivered the new series to Thompson's Gallery and I decided to post the pics before I forgot......
Thompson's is the best gallery in Tryon, run by a very pretty & energetic Erin Thompson. She combines her love for the outdoors with an eclectic mix of local artists, and the end result is a very inviting space. If you're in the area you should definitely include a stop on your itinerary. ;-)

And the Beat Goes On....

Well, in the truest sense of what a blog is meant to be, I guess I am not very good at it! My posts are far and few between. But my intention with this blog is simply to keep everyone up to date on what I am working on as well as current events in my little art world.
The Christmas season was very successful. Sold quite a few pieces in the 3 galleries I work with. And I am discovering that I have a number of people who are collecting the animals, a piece or two at a time. (I usually don't know who buys my work, as the galleries rarely tell me!)
For 2015 I am working on another animal related theme that plays in to a new awareness. The plight of farm animals. I have Facebook to thank for the education on how poorly cattle, pigs, chickens, etc. are treated. So I have come up with a menagerie of animals, and will post some pics in the next blog update.
In the meantime, I wanted to give you a current shot of my studio along with a pic of my newest toy....the slab roller! Love it! Before I would schedule a bi-weekly trip to the arts & crafts school to use theirs. Now I roll out of bed and cut this part of the work in half.

Thanks for checking in, and be on the lookout for the farm animal pics, which may just show up in the next week!

Behind It All.....

One of the motivating factors in my work is making a (small) contribution to wildlife conservation.
I do this by contributing to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (follow on FB) ....and a portion of my sales fosters a couple of the orphan elephants. A week ago I drove to Charlotte to participate in the Global March for Elephants & Rhinos, and enjoyed the company of about 100 like-minded people. All in all, marches took place in 130 cities around the world, and I was glad I made the trip!

Part of the group before the march

In addition to this little journey I have been working fast & furiously to build/expand the inventory.  The Signature Gallery in Savannah, continues to keep me busy! In fact, the kiln is firing as I write!
And an ETSY store is in the works, so my next post should direct everyone to the site for a preview.
Until next time.....

Art Trek, cont'd

Opening weekend came and went.  Very successful, as attendance tripled! And sales, as well! The gallery exhibit runs for most of July, so stop by if you have a chance.  The gallery director, Tom Madison, is doing a great job!

Current Events

I joined a great group of artists in the Signature Gallery, Savannah, Ga.  Fifteen are permanent members, and five are consignment artists.  The gallery is in a great downtown location, and has been in business for 22 years! Very grateful for their acceptance of my sculptures!
I haven't been able to catch a good pic of my display, as the light is so bright....but I will keep trying and post when I do! ( in the meantime you are invited to visit their website:  www.signaturegallerysavannah.com

This weekend, June 28-29 is Art Trek Tryon 2014.  24 local artists are opening their studios to the public. If you happen to be in the area, mine is open so please stop by!
